ZIMBABWE will host its first Business Ethics Awards reception in Harare on October 8, 2021.

“Running under the theme Celebrate ethics in action, the purpose of these awards is to honor Zimbabwe Stock Exchange-listed companies, state-owned enterprises and parastatals that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to integrating sound ethical practices into their ecosystems. of corporate governance and responsible management, ”said Bradwell Mhonderwa, executive director of the Institute of Ethics. Zimbabwe (EIZ), the organizers of the awards.

“These ethics awards and the receipt of these surveys are the first of their kind in Zimbabwe and it has taken us several years to prepare companies for this unique and virtuous honor,” he said.

Mhonderwa said the goal of EIZ would be to help companies create a culture of responsible business conduct based on strong ethics and inspired ethical leadership.

“In the public and private sectors in Zimbabwe today, ethical standards fall far short of regional and global standards, both in terms of practice and disclosure,” he said.

The goals of ethical awards include assessing the extent to which companies comply with the ethical requirements of ZIMCODE and the Public Entities Corporate Governance Act, including global standards.

Willard Manungo, Secretary of State Enterprise Reform, Corporate Governance and Procurement in the Office of the President and Cabinet, will be the guest of honor, while Mandivamba Rukuni, Executive Director of Barefoot Education for Africa Trust, will deliver the keynote address.

The revolutionary prices are open to companies and public companies listed on the ZSE, but will be extended in the future to integrate other key sectors of the economy.

Mhonderwa said the award winners went through a difficult selection process, with the evaluation tool comprising 35 evaluation questions. The ceremony will bring together business leaders, investors and public officials.
