LANSING, MI – A New Boston woman said she plans to spend more time with her retired husband after they hit the Michigan Lottery ‘Lucky for Life’ game big. Diane Newman tied the five white balls drawn on Dec. 21 – 03-32-35-38-40 – to win a prize worth $ 25,000 per year for the rest of her life.

“I used to buy lottery tickets for my husband and I, but since he retired he’s been buying them,” Newman said. “We like to play a bit of everything together.

“We checked our ticket the day after the draw and couldn’t believe we had won! We are still shocked, but it is a great relief for us.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Circle K gas station, located at 1330 Monroe Street in Carleton.

Newman recently visited the Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing to claim the prize. She had the choice of receiving $ 25,000 per year for life or a one-time lump sum payment of $ 390,000. Newman chose to take the lump sum.

“Winning means I can slow down my job and enjoy life with my husband,” she said.

The couple plan to share some of the money with their family and take a vacation.

And while she was the lucky winner, it makes sense for players to check their tickets immediately as a winner worth $ 1 million sold to Hartland. in 2019 was not claimed. The ticket was purchased at Hartland Speedway, but the winner never showed up to claim the prize. Instead, the money went to the State Educational Assistance Fund.
