“They’re actually small business owners” – CBS Denver

DENVER (CBS4) — This sweet season is still upon us. Staff and volunteers were in full force Saturday morning for the annual Girl Scouts of Colorado delivery day. Hundreds of thousands of cases of the ever-delicious cookies are being loaded into cars during the event to prepare for sales starting on Sunday.

“We’re going to start at 1,000 boxes this year,” Cadette Myla Clemetsen told CBS4’s Mekialaya White. She says she is ready to relaunch sales.
“They are actually small business owners. They are entrepreneurs who learn skills in financial management, decision making, goal setting and business ethics. All of it.” CEO Leanna Clark says it’s not just about the Thin Mints or the Do-Si-Dos; the skills the girls have learned are also invaluable.
The pandemic hasn’t brought them down and this year the Girl Scouts are even creating their own websites.
A portion of the proceeds also benefit victims of the Marshall Fire. “We’ve really perfected our digital cookie ordering process. You can get a digital cookie link, order it online,” Clark said.

“I have a QR code and you can scan it to go straight to my site,” Clemetsen explained. “So (people) can just order it there and I deliver it to their doorstep.”
It’s a welcome delivery, at times when people need it most.
“It’s really cool to know that it’s your business and you can sell whatever you want and make so many people happy,” Clemetsen added.
You can order some for yourself and learn more about participating locations.
