Scott Parker paid tribute to Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s desire and attitude to rebuild his career at the threatened Fulham.

The Chelsea midfielder on loan was instrumental in Fulham’s recent revival, which saw them move within three points of safety.

Unbeaten in four, Parker’s side travel to Crystal Palace, one of Loftus-Cheek’s former clubs on Sunday, looking to continue their excellent run.

Loftus-Cheek made 25 appearances on a one-season loan at Palace three years ago and secured a World Cup berth after an impressive campaign.

The 25-year-old suffered a devastating injury to Achilles upon his return to Chelsea, which kept him out for 10 months.

He struggled to regain his top form, but struggled for normal playing time, before joining Fulham in October.

“ As soon as you got into the building you could feel someone a little tired and someone who was a little depressed, ” Parker said.

“He had been away for a very long time and hadn’t played much football. I just saw someone grow up and grow up to be the player we’ve all seen.

“ There’s still a lot to come, but he’s a player right now who at certain points in games can take the game by the skin of the neck and be that powerful and technically gifted midfielder. ”

Ascending mobile Fulham has collected eight points in his last four games and Parker believes the recent turnaround has a lot to do with Loftus Cheek’s form.

“I think he has gained confidence. I think the environment and the work he has accomplished in this short period of time have done him honor, ”he explained.

“I was very, very happy with him and he’s going in the right direction.
