DANIEL FOOTBALL: Here’s what makes Daniel the seemingly unbeatable Goliath
WEEK 4 BEST PERFORMERS: Best Anderson Area High School Football Players of Week 4
Daniel takes care of the cases against Pickens
Daniel (4-0) won 42-14 over Pickens (2-2) for the program’s 28th straight win.
Daniel took control early and took a 28-0 lead in the first half. The Lions eased off the gas a bit and Pickens scored again just before the halftime break in the third quarter to close the gap to 28-14.
The Lions kicked into high gear and pulled away from Pickens in the fourth quarter scoring 14 unanswered points.
Next week, Daniel plays Riverside and Pickens plays Liberty.
Easley bursts against Woodmont
Easley (3-1) was tied 14-14 at halftime with Woodmont (3-2).
Easley then broke out in the third quarter with 22 points and won 36-17. Quarterback Kalab Sutton finished the night with five touchdowns.
Next week, Easley will face Southside (2-2) on the road.
BHP remains undefeated
Belton-Honea Path (4-0) won 35-6 against Emerald (2-2).
BHP’s defense allowed just 130 rushing yards and one touchdown. The Bears nearly tripled Emerald’s offensive production with 353 yards as a team.
Next week, BHP take on Walhalla (3-1).
TL Hanna scores victory over Greenwood
TL Hanna (4-1) won 31-14 away against Greenwood (1-4).
It was the fourth game Hanna had scored at least 31 points and the Yellow Jackets are now 3-0 on the road.
Next week TL Hanna will face Laurens (1-4)
Pendleton simplifies the work of Fountain Inn
Pendleton (3-1) won 43-7 over Fountain Inn (0-5) to rebound from last week’s loss to Powdersville.
Pendleton scored a season high in the win and it was the third game the Bulldogs had kept an opponent under 10 points.
Next week, Pendleton will play Palmetto.
Westside claim three straight wins
Westside (3-1) didn’t struggle against Mauldin (1-3) and won 34-7 for their third straight victory.
Westside led 21-7 at half-time and controlled the second half by shutting out Mauldin. Running back Hunter Puckett rushed for two touchdowns and Jameson Wilson had a pick six in the win.
Next week Westside has a game against Greer (1-3).
Palmetto tomb in Valhalla
Palmetto (1-3) lost 32-22 to Walhalla (3-1) as the Mustangs couldn’t find an answer in the fourth quarter.
The Mustangs remained tight with Walhalla and trailed 24-22 to start the fourth. A scoop and a Walhalla score almost midway through the fourth was too deflating to come back.
It’s Palmetto’s third straight loss after starting the year with a victory over Woodmont. Next week, the Mustangs will face Pendleton (3-1).
Crescent struggles with Abbeville
Crescent (2-2) couldn’t contain the run game and lost 51-7 to Abbeville (3-2).
The Tigers scored in the first quarter before Abbeville ran away with the game. Abbeville rushed for 381 yards with six touchdowns and attempted just four passes.
Next week, Crescent will face Emerald (2-2).
Byrnes keeps Wren winless
Wren (0-4) lost 42-7 to Byrnes (5-0) at home. The Hurricanes were dropped in single digits for the first time this season and have been outscored 167-77 throughout this season.
Wren will face another tough opponent next week at Hillcrest (5-0).
