Girl Scouts of the Central California Coast Partners with DoorDash

VENTURA, Calif. (KEYT) — The Girl Scouts of Central California Coast (CCC) announced Friday that they will be offering contactless options for cookie deliveries this year.

To make this happen, Girl Scouts has partnered with DoorDash to offer contactless home delivery to their cookie customers.

Organizers said the new partnership ensures Girl Scouts can reach consumers through online platforms.

While the Doordash app will take care of deliveries, Girl Scouts will remain very involved in tracking and fulfilling orders.

According to Tammie Helmuth, CEO of Girl Scouts CCC, this is a great experience for girls to learn and develop their entrepreneurial skills, as they will have hands-on experience of e-commerce management at such a young age.

Through this process, the girls develop interpersonal skills by working in teams. They also learn decision-making skills by taking the lead in business operations, and they will develop business ethics by ensuring they meet customer needs and expectations.

“Girls are super smart about cellphones and app technology. It’s a natural progression for girls to not only move their sales to an online platform, but use it to increase their sales,” Helmuth said. “Remember, they still want that major investment back in their community.

This year there is a new addition to the Girl Scout cookie family. A new flavor called Adventurefuls™ has been added to the line: a brownie-inspired cookie with crème caramel and a hint of sea salt.

Cookie stand locations, which will respond to Doordash commands, will start appearing across the board on February 11.

The girls will start selling door-to-door on January 29. The Girl Scout Cookie program will run from January 29 to March 13.
